Why Otaku-taco?
What is an otaku?
Has anyone ever called you an otaku and you didn’t know what it meant the first time you heard it? Before we try to explain what is an otaku and why Otaku-taco was born, let’s start from the beginning.
A google search I made resulted in the following Otaku definition:
‘ (in Japan) a young person who is obsessed with computers or particular aspects of popular culture to the detriment of their social skills.’
Therefore, an otaku is someone so obsessed with something that has left their social skills aside to focus on what they love. This doesn’t sound too bad, does it?
Talking further about the obsessions that this particular individual would have would normally include anime, Japanese or pop culture, manga and/or cosplay so if you frequently do some of these activities and are kind of antisocial, congratulations you are an otaku!
Now let’s move on and let’s talk about what is a taco?
Coming back to our old friend Google…
Taco is ‘a Mexican dish consisting of a folded or rolled tortilla filled with various mixtures, such as seasoned mince, chicken, or bean’
Everybody knows what a taco, right? It’s that yummy dish that sometimes has herbs, chilli, guac and all the stuff we like.
Why Otaku-taco then?
Our business is a made from a mix of cultures, mix of styles and mix of everything. Hence our name is a mix of 2 foreign words that can be easily understood in English.
Our name is who we are and it rolls off the tongue really nicely.
Go ahead and say it… Otaku-taco!
