Every year, Matsuri Brisbane transforms Camp Hill into a lively celebration of Japanese culture. Since its launch in 2018, this free festival has offered the Brisbane community a unique cultural experience through food, performances, hands-on workshops, and more.

- Entry: Free for all ages (bookings via Eventbrite recommended)
What to Expect at Matsuri Brisbane
Performances & Stage Shows
- Taiko drumming, Awa Odori, Yosakoi, and Bon Dance
- J-pop idol performances
- Martial arts demonstrations including Aikido, Karate, and swordsmanship
- Mikoshi procession and Bon Odori for everyone to join in
Food, Stalls & Refreshments
- Japanese street food: sushi, yakitori, katsu, mochi, and matcha drinks
- Souvenir stalls with crafts, anime goods, and Japanese merchandise
- A licensed Japanese bar offering sake and beer
Cultural Workshops & Interactive Experiences
- Ikebana (flower arranging)
- Chado (tea ceremony)
- Shodo (calligraphy) and Sumi-e (ink painting)
- Kids' games: kendama, origami, super ball scoops, and more

With nearly 100 stalls, 200 volunteers, and over 18,000 visitors in past years, Matsuri Brisbane is a true community effort. Families, students, and cultural enthusiasts are all welcome at this inclusive and vibrant celebration of Japanese culture.

About the Organisers
Matsuri Brisbane is organised by Brisbane Seinendan Inc, a Japanese community group dedicated to promoting cultural understanding and exchange through events and volunteer-led initiatives. Led by Yoko Hintz and a team of passionate volunteers, the festival is a vibrant celebration of friendship and diversity.
