So... what makes an ita bag different from a normal bag?
A regular bag can obviously hold your pins and keychains, but an ita bag gives them their own little stage.

An insert is basically the backing where you arrange your display. It’s super handy because you can plan everything outside the bag, move your pins around 500 times until they look perfect, and then pop the finished display inside.

For chunky charms and plushies, check that the display compartment can still close comfortably. If you have to squish your poor plushie against the window just to zip it up, your layout probably needs a little rearranging.
Why is it called an “ita bag”?
The name comes from the Japanese ita baggu, which is often translated as “painful bag”.
Why painful? There are a few fun interpretations. Maybe you got too many items to display that it’s “painful” to carry around ... or maybe it’s your wallet that’s hurting after buying 30 badges of the same character. 😭
Either way, you absolutely do not need a giant collection to make an ita bag.
One favourite badge? Valid.
A carefully colour-coordinated display? Valid.
Twenty versions of the same character? Also valid.

Choose your display before choosing your bag colour
We get it. The pastel purple bag is calling your name.
But before choosing a colour, check whether your actual collection is going to fit.
Grab the biggest pin, acrylic charm, photocard or plushie you want to display and check these three things:
- Visible width and height: Will you actually be able to see the whole item through the window?
- Display depth: Is there enough room for chunky charms or plushies without squashing them against the front?
- Attachment: Does the bag have an insert, loop or another suitable place to secure your collection?
One really important tip: the overall size of the bag is not the same as the usable display area.
A bag might be listed as 35 cm wide, but seams, borders and the shape of the window can make the actual display space smaller. If you have one specific collectible that absolutely HAS to fit, check the window measurements or ask us before ordering.
Then think about everything else you normally carry. Phone? Wallet? Portable charger? Con snacks? Emergency cosplay repair kit?
Your ita bag still needs to function as an actual bag once your display is inside.

If having an included insert is important to you, make sure that the bag you are after comes with one. Just remember to check the insert size against your badges first. If the bag you are after doesn't come with an insert, it's not the end of the world.

If you’re displaying acrylic keychains or plush charms
Gravity is your enemy here. 😂
A keychain that looks perfectly centred while your bag is lying flat might suddenly hang way too low when you put the bag on.
Before committing to the layout, attach your charm and hold the bag upright. Check that it stays visible through the window and doesn’t swing around too much.
For plushies, make sure there’s enough depth for the display compartment to close comfortably. You shouldn’t have to force the zip shut or completely flatten your plush to make it fit.
If a keychain is going to be the centrepiece of your display, check where you’ll actually attach it before choosing your bag. Don’t assume every model or colour has exactly the same internal attachment points just because you’ve seen a styled product photo.
If you’re creating a character or colour theme
This is where things get REALLY fun.
You could build your entire bag around one character, one series, one colour palette or whatever random collection makes your brain happy.
A simple way to start is to lay out the merch you already own and look at its main colours. Then choose a bag that frames those colours rather than competing with them.
